Ian Brown - Illegal Attacks

Illegal Attacks by Ian Brown (Feat. Sinead O'connor)

So what the fuck is this UK
Gunnin’ with this US of A
In Iraq and Iran and in Afghanistan

Does not a day go by
Without the Israeli Air Force
Fail to drop it’s bombs from the sky?

How many mothers to cry?
How many sons have to die?
How many missions left to fly over Palestine?
‘Cause as a matter of facts
It’s a pact, it’s an act
These are illegal attacks
So bring the soldiers back
These are illegal attacks
It’s contracts for contacts
I’m singing concrete facts
So bring the soldiers back

What mean ya that you beat my people
What mean ya that you beat my people
And grind the faces of the poor

So tell me just how come were the Taliban
Sat burning incense in Texas
Roaming round in a Lexus
Sittin’ on six billion oil drums
Down with the Dow Jones, up on the Nasdaq
Pushed into the war zones

It’s a commercial crusade
‘Cause all the oil men get paid
And only so many soldiers come home
It’s a commando crusade
A military charade
And only so many soldiers come home

Soldiers, soldiers come home
Soldiers come home

Through all the blood and sweat
Nobody can forget
It ain’t the size of the dog in the fight
It’s the size of the fight in the dog on the day or the night
There’s no time to reflect
On the threat, the situation, the bark nor the bite
These are commercial crusades
‘Cos all the oil men get paid
These are commando crusades
Commando tactical rape
And from the streets of New York and Baghdad to Tehran and Tel Aviv
Bring forth the prophets of the Lord
From dirty bastards fillin’ pockets
With the profits of greed

These are commercial crusades
Commando tactical raids
Playin’ military charades to get paid

And who got the devils?
And who got the Lords?
Build yourself a mountain – Drink up in the fountain
Soldiers come home
Soldiers come home
Soldiers come home
Soldiers come home

What mean ya that you beat my people
What mean ya that you beat my people
And grind the faces of the poor

My own private Mary Jane slippers

Suddenly occurred to me that I needed home slippers, warm, machine washable, and most important of all, unique :)

At first I tried knitting like knitting socks, than I gave up, because they wouldn't be warm enough to walk on ceramic or marble floor, so I unravelled it. Then I decided making something crocheting: I did the sole first, before deciding how to do the upper part.

It all came improvisationally, I tried a few times to give the round and fit shape, and succeeded (there is a little fault, but goes away while wearing) .
And there had to be buttons and they had to be catching, so I dived in mom's old-buttons box and came back with these strikingly yellow ones, vintage I may say.

The result was quite satisfying for me. I wear them all the time except either when they are being washed or getting dried :)
It is sort of hard for me to write a full pattern, but I can give you some numbers so that you will have a starting point. I used a bulky wool/acrylic blend yarn with 9 mm crochet hook. The yarn is actually suitable knitting with 10 mm needles, but I had to have my slippers thicker and firmer. I started with 6 chains after the initial loop, and then continued on the next row with single crocheting every chain so I had 5 stitches (some experienced crocheters will know what I am talking about). After that, I increased the first and the last stitches of the rows by two (made one stitch two stitches) until I had 13 stitches (I'm not superstitious, moreover, I have a thing for prime numbers :) . After it was my sole length, I decreased, as I had increased, to 5 stitches. This is the sole, then I picked stitches and crocheted in the round, shaped (by decreasing), and finished. That easy... ;)

Great quizzes (and definitely not about your love life..)

Surfing around, I ran into this beautiful blog and took the quiz being talked about. Than couldn't help myself and tried a bunch of other quizzes. Really enjoyable, I hope they put great other ones from time to time. Really...

Dusuk belli kotlarin demode olmasinin disindaki zararlari No:1 / Bads of low-waist jeans other than they are out of fashion No.1

Bugun isyerimden 100 metre kadar uzakliktaki harika Corba&Ekmek'e gittim. Corbami ictim, tatlimi yedim, hesabi istedim. Hersey harika gidiyordu ki pantolonumun sag arka cebindeki paraya gayet rahat bir sekilde uzanmam ve de aradigim 20 lirayi bulamamamla, hatta sol arka cebimdeki diger 20 lira'nin da dusmek uzere oldugunu farketmemle hayal kirikligina ugradim. Cebin konumu vucudunun yururken olabilecek en hareketli yerinde olmasi sacma elbette, sonuc olarak yedigim yemek bana mutevazi bir raki-meze-balik fiyatina malolmus oldu... / I went to Corba&Ekmek for lunch today, about 100 meters from where I work. Had my soup and apple pie, ordered the bill. Everything was very good until I reached my back pocket on the right and felt nothing instead of 20 liras banknote, and, reached the back pocket on the left and there was my other 20 liras just about to jump out. Well, where the back pockets are is the most moving part of the body, which makes stupid to use as actual pockets, and the design eventually made me pay a modest raki-appetizer-fish amount of money for soup and apple pie... (FYI, 20 Turkish liras makes about 17 US dollars)
