Scarf and Wrist-Warmers

Here you go with an awful photo of my cozy scarf. It is 280 cm long, plus 20 cm fringes. It is 20 something cm wide -- well it does not stay still . I cast on 30 stitches with this yarn and worked with this pattern until I finished with 3 bals of yarn. Then I cut pieces of almost 40 cm long and tied two pieces to each stitch for the fringes.

And these are the wrist-warmers, knit in a night.

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING BLUE!

Hi there, this is my first post for Studio Friday and I am late...
This piece has a "story", the fabric is a piece from my granma's old shirt, my mom did the edges when she was about 10 -- now 63 -- to practice the doing-the-edges. And than my sister when she was about 10 -- now42 -- made the dog. Now I -- 28 -- use it as a cover for my small radio. Not that the radio needs a cover, I just like keeping this piece around me...

Illustration Friday Tea

I had finished this watercolour in the drawing course. What is important here for Ilustration Friday is the authentic Turkish tea glass.

HOW TO MAKE TURKISH BLACK TEA
Have a teapot and a kettle. Put one spoonful of tea for each tea glass in the teapot and rinse with cold water to wash away the dustlike particles. Put water into the kettle, place the teapot on it and put the kettle on a stove to have the water boiled. Pour boiled-and-calmed-down-for-a-minute water into the teapot. Put some more water into the kettle, put the fire to half when boiled, and wait until there is no bubbles on the surface of the tea in the teapot--which means that your tea is ready to be served. Pour some from the teapot with the help of a strainer and fill the rest of the tea glass with water from the kettle. Decide if you like your tea dark or light, with sugar or without. You can also add a few drops of lemon juice, but never milk.

She's no badluck...

North Star Anyone?

I have seen this kind of north star everywhere, knitted items, cross-stitches, beads and on and on... but...
I had never seen a proper chart for a basic North Star, so I decided to make it myself. Used the blank chart from here, and painted in Photoshop. Well, enjoy, it is free for non-commercial uses...

This and that

Here comes a new one, 100 % wool superwash. I knit this in two days (but not in 48 hours). 100 % my design. Photo two is my nephew wearing it.

This is the yarn. I bought it for 2 liras (almost 1.5 dollars or 1 euro) per ball two years ago from the same shop mentioned here . (2 yıl kadar önce 2 milyona aldım 100 gramını, yerin tarifi burada)

I knit it with 6 mm straight needles and sew on the back. It cost me almost one and a half balls(150 grams). Very cozy.

I also did a scarf and wrist/hand warmers out of this yarn (not the same ball, of course) and I'll post the photos later.

Here are my little ones (not so little anymore...)

This is my nephew, my sister's son, 15.

And this is my niece, my brother's daughter, 11.

P.S. I would not like to manipulate but as long as I am not a nominee, I wish he wins.

Parents in Mihrabad

These are my parents, the photograph was taken last year in Mihrabad Grove (Mihrabad Korusu) up Kanlıca, on the Asian side of beautiful Bosphorus. Check this. The place is no more a piece of nature, it has a café, a restaurant and on. Check this (in Turkish).

Back Home

One of the things I have in progress is this:

Strickland/Multicolor
%75 Superwash Wool %35 Polyamid
420 m/100 gr
2,5 mm
33 stiches=10 cm

I knit the tip first, starting from the green mark:

Then I picked the stiches and start knitting in the round up the way. I knit with different color where the heel is, I knit up, increasing and decreasing where necessary, bind off, and than I take the different color yarn out, and pick the stiches, and knit as if I am knitting the tip. Photos, and if I can manage the pattern to come...
